NBA Draft: Prospects who are trending up heading into the Final Four
By Tron Griffin
Jarrett Culver, Texas Tech
The 6-foot-5 Big 12 Player of the Year, Culver, will be drafted in the Top 10 of this year’s NBA Draft. He is a player that can do it all from slashing to the basket for a powerful dunk to nailing a tough mid-range jumper, but his 3-point shooting must improve at the next level.
The best part of his game is that he shows up in big games. Culver scored 25 points against Duke and 26 points against Kansas during the regular season. During this year’s tournament, he has played well but it was his huge 22 point performance in the Sweet 16 that sent Michigan home that really caught a lot of attention.
A good Final Four performance could elevate him into the Top 5 of the NBA Draft. NBA scouts believe he has the speed and athleticism to play in the league, but will be looking to see how he stroke the three and play on the biggest stage. They want to see if he will be the best player on the court instead of the playing like the best player with the biggest upside on the court during the Final Four. Bottom line is: Culver needs to take over the game and be the best player in the game if he wants to be drafted in the Top 5 of this year’s NBA Draft.
