There’s a legit chance the Spurs get to the Western Conference Finals

It’s funny, before the season many were quick to count the San Antonio Spurs out of the teams that could potentially make a deep run in the Western Conference Playoffs. Now, there’s a really good chance that we could see the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

If you’re still not a buying, you better jump on the Gregg Popovich train. Picture this, assuming that the Spurs can get past the Denver Nuggets in the first-round – they currently hold a 2-1 series lead over Denver through the first three games – they would likely see the Oklahoma City Thunder or Portland Trail Blazers in the second round.

Say what you want about this Spurs team and their lack of star power, but after disposing what was consistently the second-best team in the West all season long, San Antonio would have at the very least, if not favored, a puncher’s chance against either team in the second round.

Perhaps this team can’t really make a real push to the NBA Finals, especially in a potential conference finals matchup against much more talented, and seasoned, team like the Rockets or Warriors, should the Spurs make the conference finals it would be viewed as a huge and major success.
