What if the Pelicans want to trade Anthony Davis at the draft?
Anthony Davis formally requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans this past season just before the NBA Trade Deadline. Even though he didn’t get his desire, the groupthink heading into the off-season is that the Pelicans will move Davis sooner rather than later – and that he won’t be on the Pelicans’ roster once the season starts.
However, what could throw a big wrench in the NBA Draft is if the Pelicans enter the night with the goal to trade him at that moment. It has happened before, most recently with the Chicago Bulls and Jimmy Butler. The same could happen with the Pelicans if they really want to move past this and jumpstart the rebuilding process with ammo headed into the draft.
Teams like the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers and possibly Knicks would make the night even more memorable if they pursued Anthony Davis on draft night.
