For the Celtics, their second first-round pick of the 2019 NBA Draft comes at No. 14. Here, the Celtics could get a bit experimental, but at the same time could just take a big. Someone that they could look to develop in anticipation of the potential of having to move – or let go – of Al Horford.
Brandon Clarke is an interesting prospect that could pay dividends for any team willing to put in the work on his game. Clarke is one of the most athletic players in this draft, but his offense certainly needs work. He will mostly contribute on the defensive end early on, but is the type of player that if he works hard will definitely develop into a potential contributor down the line.
But as is almost always the case at this point in the NBA Draft, Clarke is the type of player that you simply take a risk on. There’s no guarantee here, and the hope is that one day this pick and patience will pay off. Clarke averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and nearly three blocks per game during his junior season at Gonzaga.
