Brooklyn Nets
Why it makes sense: The Brooklyn Nets are one of the hottest up-and-coming franchises in the Eastern Conference right now. They have a nice young core of supporting pieces that could help a star like Kyrie, and the team could find a way to create room for a second max contract if they really wanted to.
Kyrie would be THE GUY with the Nets and would still be in a big market. It’s essentially the Knicks without the huge spotlight, critical media and terrible front office. It’s literally the next best thing if Kyrie really wants to be in New York.
Why it doesn’t make sense: Well, it isn’t the Knicks. And, even if Kyrie makes the jump to the Nets, if the Knicks even sign a less talented max player, they’ll continue to be the focal point of New York. He could find himself being outshined by a player like Kemba Walker because even the chance of the Knicks being somewhat relevant counts 100 times more than anything the Nets could possibly do.
