Because of the way the draft board has fallen, in large part due to the blockbuster trade between the Pelicans and Lakers, the Chicago Bulls lose out on Darius Garland with the No. 7 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. With Garland off the board, who I believe they hope falls to them, don’t be surprised Hayes is the next target.
Hayes is an intriguing center prospect out of Texas, that is an impressive athlete and a force on the defensive end. While his offense still has some progressing to do, there are plenty of attributes to like about Hayes.
Hayes has the look and measurables of a future contributor and would be a great fit next to Lauri Markannen. He won’t be a big-time rotation player from the initial jump but could evolve into a really good player in a few years.
