The New York Knicks have perhaps the deepest roster of young talent in the league with RJ Barrett, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 draft, along with Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Alonzo Trier, Dennis Smith Jr. and Frank Ntilikina, all 24 years old or under.

However, none of these players seem as though they are on their way toward becoming transcendent stars like Steph Curry, James Harden, LeBron James or Kevin Durant. RJ Barrett is likely the best hope the Knicks have as far as future superstar talent. Furthermore, the Knicks have been run with such incompetence for much of the last two decades that any optimism about their core of youth players is overshadowed by missing out on free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and by the constant mismanagement by owner James Dolan.

The Knicks do however have seven first-round picks over the next five years and eight players that figure into their main rotation this year that are 24 years of age or under. If the Knicks are going to parlay their young roster into a future contender, at least one of their young players is going to have to develop into an All-NBA caliber player.

They will most likely have to find any other All-Star caliber players through the draft since they have proven not to be the free agency destination James Dolan seemed confident that they were this season.
