Will the Anthony Davis addition be enough?

When the Los Angeles Lakers signed LeBron James last summer, I’m sure that no one envisioned the team missing the playoffs entirely during the 2018-19 season. However, the Lakers entered the offseason with one goal on their mind – make a move that would vault them into contender status.

And as the 2019-20 season quickly approaches, you can’t sit there and suggest that the Lakers aren’t contenders at the moment. They added Anthony Davis via trade during the summer, while moving Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart. While you can argue which team won the trade, the Lakers accomplished what they wanted in acquiring Davis so it was worth it for them on their side.

Now, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis as their top 2, you can make the argument that the Lakers have the best duo in the NBA – certainly in the Western Conference. The big question for this team this season is whether this team has enough to compete with the other juggernauts in the league.

While the Lakers might have the best top 2 in the West, there are real questions about their supporting cast and whether they have enough contributing players to sustain a deep playoff run this season.
