Miami Heat
Will Bam Adebayo make the jump the team is hoping he can make?
The Miami Heat surprised the masses this summer by acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Sixers via sign-and-trade even though the team didn’t technically have salary cap space heading into the summer. Even though it came at the cost of Josh Richardson, the acquisition was beneficial for the Heat.
At the very least, they have one star as they attempt to build back up to be a contender in the Eastern Conference. And the first, more often than not, is always the first to acquire. The Heat could now use Butler as bait to catch the second big fish. Or, as the Heat are hoping heading into the 2019-20 season, they could gain one from internal progression.
The Heat are betting that could be Bam Adebayo, who is coming off an impressive second season with the club, could have a breakout season in year 3. Bam’s ceiling is through the rough, but the next progressional step in his development is becoming a productive rotational player for the club. And he will be entering this season as the team’s starting center.
The opportunity will be there for Bam. The question is, will he answer the call?
