Dallas Mavericks
What Kristaps Porzingis will we see this season?
Many were surprised when it was reported that the Dallas Mavericks had acquired Kristaps Porzingis from the Knicks a week before the NBA Trade Deadline this past season. However, no matter how the trade came to fruition, the Mavs are entering the 2019-20 season with high hopes thanks to their young dynamic duo.
Luka Doncic, the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year award winner, set the tone for a new era of Mavs basketball last season and the hope is that Kristaps will add to that. The problem with that, however, is the fact that we really haven’t seen Kristaps in uniform in almost two years. The last time he played in an official game was Feb. 6, 2018. The good news is that he’s healthy and will be ready to go at the start of the season.
Coming off a knee injury, it’s not easy to predict what we’ll see for Kristaps. He’s a 7-footer that had freakish athleticism. Will he still have that same leaping and moving ability after the injury? If he does come back as somewhat the same player, the Mavs will be a potential dark horse playoff team in the Western Conference this season.
