Breakout candidate: Ivica Zubac

Playing next to the likes of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard likely won’t be easy when it comes to the constant media coverage and scrutiny, but any player is certainly going to love it when he’s on the court. Simply put, PG and Kawhi are going to make life a whole lot easier for a player like Ivica Zubac who could be in line for a big season.

Zubac was acquired from the Lakers last season and is penciled in as the team’s starting center heading into 2019-20. He won’t be asked to do much but could be the beneficiary of easy putbacks and layups that come as a byproduct of playing next to such great players.

That’s one of the bigger reasons why I expect a breakout year from Zubac. Another is that he can play. The talent is there and is quite the physical specimen at 7-foot-1. The LA Clippers are going to need some unsung heroes if they’re going to reach their potential this season, and Ivica Zubac could very much be one of those players.
