Dallas Mavericks
Breakout candidate: Justin Jackson
All the talk surrounding this year’s Dallas Mavericks team has centered around Luka Doncic, who is coming off an NBA Rookie of the Year campaign, and Kristaps Porzingis, who is returning from a significant knee injury this season. And perhaps that’s exactly where the hype around this team should be focused on. After all, those are two all-stars.
However, there is another player on this roster that has been making waves in the preseason. His name is Justin Jackson, who the team acquired from the Kings last season. During the preseason, Jackson averaged 12 points per game on an efficient shooting percentage.
He’s played so well that he’s probably secured a starting role headed into the regular season. He will likely be the team’s starting small forward heading into the season and should remain there until proven otherwise.
While Jackson might not be a name that you’re familiar with, there’s no question that he could be in line for a breakout season. This is not to say that he’s going to be an all-star, but he will be in line to have a nice season.
