Washington Wizards: Grading every player’s 2019-20 season
Moritz Wagner: A-
Moritz Wagner also exceeded expectations after the Lakers essentially gifted him to the Wizards. He stretched the floor at a reasonable clip (34 percent) and led the NBA in charges taken for much of the season. He was a little banged up but he showed the potential to at least be a productive back-up center for this franchise moving forward.
Ian Mahinmi: A
This may enrage some people but here we go. Ignoring the contract and considering how astronomically low expectations were, Ian Mahinmi was finally productive on the court for the Wizards. That’s something I wasn’t sure I’d ever write. He attempted to play defense on a team where that was a rarity and he was a good sport when he was benched in favor of younger players.
Mahinmi was still trying to play his way into one last NBA contract so you can’t devalue the professionalism he displayed in those circumstances. He also took younger players under his wing and took Garrison Mathews shopping, which you need in your locker room.
