This isn’t a strong draft

Even if you hit on a draft pick, there’s no guarantee that Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman, or LaMelo Ball will even be a future superstar in the NBA. According to experts, the 2020 draft class is set up to be one of the weakest in years. Even though that can’t really be labeled as such until after we see many of these players play in the NBA, it’s not a great indication for teams selecting in the top 5.

For the Warriors, you can make the case that the No. 1 pick – or even top 3 – is an overall better asset than, say, Anthony Edwards. To simplify this, the asset will be more valuable before the actual draft. So if the Warriors want to cash-in on this asset, the best time to do it is before the draft takes place.

The Warriors are going to be contenders again next season. They could separate themselves from the Lakers and Clippers in the Western Conference by making another move.

Question is, will they decide to try and package the pick and Andrew Wiggins or even Draymond Green to land another star or will they stay the course and play the long game?
