Summary: Aside from adding a great fit at the center position in the draft with James Wiseman, the Charlotte Hornets offseason is mostly underwhelming. They do use their cap space and early second-rounder (via Cleveland) to assemble three future second-round draft picks and some cash for good measure. Their biggest off-season acquisition is Kris Dunn who has elite defensive potential to mix in with a double point guard back-court rotation including Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier.
The Hornets don’t make any moves that destroy their cap flexibility in 2021 and mostly remain with the status quo. Pending Wiseman’s development and Kris Dunn reaching his defensive ceiling, the Hornets could slip into the lower pack of a weak Eastern Conference playoff race with a lot of versatile wing depth to rotate and ability to go small around their big men.
