Indiana Pacers

What the Indiana Pacers have been able to accomplish over the last few years is nothing short of remarkable. When everyone thought the Pacers were hitting the hard reset button after trading Paul George, Indiana somehow managed to improve after the trade. Even though a big part of that was because of Victor Oladipo, this organization has done a tremendous job in surrounding him with talent.

However, Oladipo is a free agent after the 2020-21 season and I don’t see him re-signing without, at the very least, testing free agency next summer. That could have some negative impact on the Pacers. And after the Paul George fiasco a few years ago, it could leave Indiana possibly wanting to trade him before losing him for nothing.

I don’t know what this Pacers roster is going to look like in 2020-21, but if I had to guess there’s at least a 10 percent chance that Oladipo isn’t on the roster.

The Pacers have been a great story in the East over the last few seasons, but until Oladipo signs an extension I’m not sure they’re not going to take a step back next season. Here’s hoping everything works out, but I’ve seen this story before. And the ending isn’t always a happy one.
