Zion’s raw talent supersedes his peers

There’s a reason Zion Williamson was considered a generational prospect heading into the 2019 NBA Draft. As just a rookie at Duke, he’s was clearly above his peers. His raw talent separated him from his competition, and it wasn’t close. His athleticism was unmatched and overpowered his competition on a level that we hadn’t seen in a very long time.

Even though he was far from a finished product, what he showed during his lone season at Duke was enough to warrant his potential greatness. He was clearly the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and it wasn’t even a debate. As soon as Zion stepped on the floor with fellow NBA competition, the potential was very much evident.

In just the 19 games that he played during his rookie season, Zion dominated even without knocking off all the rust of missing the first few months of the season. If the 2019-20 regular season is continued, Zion will have concluded his rookie season by averaging 24 points and seven rebounds on 59 percent shooting from the field and 46 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Zion hasn’t even begun to develop at the NBA level and was already putting up all-star worthy numbers. Scary.
