Ranking the 11 NBA franchises that have yet to win a championship

Entering the 2018-19 NBA season, there were 12 franchises that had never won a championship. After the Toronto Raptors‘ spectacular run last season, there are now only 11 remaining that have not hoisted a Larry O’Brien trophy at some point in their team’s history.

With the Raptors winning, coupled with the current hiatus that we’re in, it got me thinking – which are the best franchises to never win a title? Many of the franchises on this list have been close, with all but three of them reaching at least the conference finals.

In an attempt to rank each of these franchises, there are a few things I decided to take into consideration. Predictably, I took into account how close each franchise has been to win a championship. I also took into account the number of legendary players that have played with each team. A franchises’ longevity and competitiveness are also two factors here.

As a bit of housekeeping, I elected not to include the Oklahoma City Thunder since they were technically the Seattle Supersonics before their relocation.

Let’s get to the rankings of the franchises that have yet to win an NBA Championship.
