Atlanta Hawks

Heading into the 2019-20 NBA season, the Atlanta Hawks were a team that many believed would be a dark horse playoff team in the Eastern Conference. However, almost before they were even ready to begin, they were hit by a season-changing suspension of John Collins. I don’t think it would be fair to entirely place the team’s shortcomings on the suspension of Collins, but it certainly didn’t help.

Assuming none of their core players will be suspended heading into next season, the Hawks should be ready to make some sort of improvement next season. I think they’re going to be a playoff team in the East in 2020-21. I believe in Trae Young and his potential. Flanked with even more talent next season, I think he’s primed for a big jump in his development.

Atlanta added Clint Capela at the NBA Trade Deadline and will certainly be of help along the team’s frontcourt. Let’s also not forget that this team is loaded with young talent. Plus, they’re also projected to have another top 7 pick, possibly one even in the top 3.

The future is bright for the Hawks and it wouldn’t be surprising if they make a big step next season.
