25. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Denver) – Vernon Carey Jr, F/C, Duke
On the heels of a season in which they surprised almost all oddsmakers by finishing in the top 8 of the Western Conference during the regular season, the Oklahoma City Thunder will enter the offseason with some big questions to answer. While most of them or player/personnel-related, they will also have a decision to make at No. 25 in the 2020 NBA Draft.
While the draft boarding falling as it has, OKC will take a chance on an offensively-talented Vernon Carey Jr. The Duke-product averaged 18 points, nine rebounds, and nearly two blocks per game during his freshman season. He shot 58 percent from the field and even showcased flashes of extending his range to the 3-point line.
There are still plenty of questions about Carey’s game, especially in an NBA where the league is quickly moving away from the big man but snagging an offensive-inclined big at No.25 wouldn’t be the worst of moves for the Thunder.
