27. New York Knicks (via Los Angeles) – Patrick Williams, F, Florida State
After selecting LaMelo Ball with the No. 1 overall draft pick, the Knicks will have another opportunity to improve its roster with the 27th pick. This is where they can take a bit more of a risk and take a player with potential. That’s why I like Patrick Williams at this point in the draft for the Knicks.
It was a bit of a surprise to see Patrick Williams declare for the NBA Draft, as he only averaged nine points and four rebounds per game during his freshman season at Florida State. Nevertheless, the athletic power forward has potential. He’s extremely raw and needs time to develop.
At least for now, Williams isn’t a great threat offensively but doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective. That’s one of his greatest assets. He can slash, clean up around the rime, and is a good finisher.
