28. Toronto Raptors – Jahmi’us Ramsey, G, Texas Tech
The Toronto Raptors have quickly become one of the better developmental franchises in the NBA. They’ve proven that time and time again, and most recently with Pascal Siakam who has quickly evolved into one of the NBA’s rising stars. Fred VanVleet is another player that has really taken off, this year as a starter.
However, he’s expected to test free agency this summer and there’s no guarantee that he’ll be back in Toronto next season. That doubt leaves the Raptors in a position where they need to protect their backcourt depth. And they can help do that by taking a guard at No 28.
Jahmi’us Ramsey might not be the most NBA-ready player in this draft, but he’s certainly showed signs that he can be a really good player. In starting almost every game for Texas Tech, Ramsey averaged 15 points and four rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field and 43 percent shooting from 3-point range.
