Golden State Warriors trade target: LaMarcus Aldridge
Warriors get: LaMarcus Aldridge, Lonnie Walker
Spurs get: Andrew Wiggins, 2020 first-round draft pick
There’s a wide range of expectations that LaMarcus Aldridge will find his way to the trade block at the NBA Draft or before the start of the 2020-21 NBA season. He’s an expiring contract after next season and isn’t likely to re-sign with the San Antonio Spurs. That could open the door for a team like the Warriors, who could use Aldridge as a rental in 2020-21.
However, they would also have to send away Andrew Wiggins (to make the money work) and bring back Lonnie Walker in an attempt to gain at least some value in the event that they choose not to re-sign Aldridge after next season.
Aldridge is still valuable on the offensive end of the floor and would give the Warriors a low-post presence that they really haven’t had since their dynasty began. Even though he leaves much to be desired on the defensive end, having a player like Draymond Green in the frontcourt would help make the transition of Aldridge a bit easier.
I’m not sure how likely the Warriors would be interested in LaMarcus Aldridge, but he’s certainly a player that could be on the move during the offseason.
