Jerami Grant is hoping to cash-in during the 2020 NBA free agency period

Many players will need to make big decisions regarding their future, much like every year, this offseason. Though, this time around, it will look much different. One player specifically, is Denver Nuggets forward Jerami Grant.

In a conversation with Chris Haynes on “The Posted Up” podcast, Grant suggested that he was leaning away from picking up his player option and testing free agency during the offseason (whenever that will eventually take place).

On the surface, it may seem like a safe bet for Grant. The 2020 NBA free agency class isn’t expected to be as deep as the 20202 NBA free agency class. There would be room for Grant to take advantage of a shallow free agency class and cash-in on a big-money after back-to-back breakout seasons.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

During his final season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Grant averaged 14 points and five rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range.

This past season with the Nuggets, Grant was averaging 12 points and four rebounds per game on 47 percent shooting from the field and a career-high 40 percent from 3-point range.

At 26 years old, Grant will be in line for arguably his biggest contract to date. And it doesn’t appear that he’s going to let the current situation of the NBA and its uncertainties to force him to opt-in and then enter a loaded free agency class in which he could get lost in.

NBA players should take advantage when the stars line up for their big payday. This is where Grant is in. Whether that is with the Nuggets or another team, it’s looking like Jerami Grant is going to look for financial stability during the 2020 offseason.

And with a “weak” free agency class, it makes sense. Hopefully, it’s a risk that ends up paying off for Grant.
