6. Minnesota Timberwolves – James Wiseman, C, Memphis

On paper, this might look like a curious pick. Although, there is so much unknown surrounding James Wiseman that this is simply the best player available type of pick for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Plus, Wiseman playing with and along Karl-Anthony Towns could really boost his development.

Even though there are real questions about his effort on the defensive end, the hope is that he could develop on that end of the floor to eventually blossom into a role next to Towns. Wiseman only played a handful of games during his freshman season at Memphis but popped off the screen.

Wiseman needs to prove that he can be a polished, skilled offensive player at the next level and that includes hitting a consistent jump shot. The raw talent and athleticism are certainly there, there’s no question about that.

It just depends on whether Wiseman has what it takes to blossom at the next level.
