How the AD trade changed the Los Angeles Lakers: Changed the narrative for 2021

Before the Lakers landed LeBron James, they were considered the big-name franchise that had flopped time and time again in signing the big-name talent. From losing out on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes in 2013 to watching LaMarcus Aldridge sign elsewhere in 2015, the Lakers had whiffed in free agency as of late.

LeBron helped change that, but you can make the case that most of that was choreographed by The King himself. Even though Anthony Davis wasn’t “a free agent,” he wanted to be a Laker and that will certainly help as Los Angeles inches closer to the summer of 2021 in which the franchise could reload with another superstar.

With just two moves, the Lakers may have just changed the narrative surrounding the franchise heading into the summer of 2021. No matter what happens over the next year and a half, there’s no question that the Lakers will be a hot landing spot should they have room for a max free agent.
