16. New Orleans Pelicans

Heading into the NBA’s restart, the New Orleans Pelicans were one team that many assumed would emerge with the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. As it currently stands, the Pelicans are going to need a bit of help in getting to that position. The Blazers are red-hot and the Grizzlies are still doing enough to hold off the Pelicans.

Having a limited Zion Williamson doesn’t help much either. Simply put, the Pelicans have been a bit of a disappointment thus far in the bubble. There’s still time for them to turn that narrative around, but there are legit concerns about this team.

It should be noted, however, that the Pelicans should still be considered a real playoff threat heading into next season. New Orleans is loaded with young talent and might be on the verge of securing another lottery pick.

The future is bright. They just aren’t having the restart many expected them to have at this point.
