NBA Mock Draft. 6.0: Kings land LaMelo Ball; Warriors snag James Wiseman
6. Atlanta Hawks – Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa State
The Atlanta Hawks may already have their starting point guard for the next decade in the fold in Trae Young, but adding a combo guard like Tyrese Haliburton could take this team’s offense to the next level. Even though Haliburton is a player that will click with Young almost instantly on the offensive end, it’s Haliburton’s potential on the defensive end that makes me like this pairing even more.
At 6-foot-5, and with great length, Haliburton has the potential to be a terror on the defensive end. Where Young falls short, Haliburton could pick up the slack. Haliburton is also a good playmaker that will only get better by playing next to a player as talented as Young.
The duo of Young and Haliburton could grow to become one of the most dangerous combo backcourts in the Eastern Conference. While there could be a learning curb, this is a combination that makes a ton of sense if the Hawks are picking in the middle of the top 10.
