12. Sacramento Kings – Tyrese Maxey, G, Kentucky
With the way that some of the recent Kentucky players have blossomed in the NBA over the last few years, I wouldn’t be surprised if more NBA GM paid a bit more attention to the advice that Kentucky head coach John Calipari had to say. Tyrese Maxey is the highest rated Kentucky player in this draft and could find a home on the West Coast.
The Kings have to return to the drawing board this offseason and will need to make a smart selection in the 2020 NBA Draft. With the uncertainty that revolves around this team’s backcourt for every player not named De’Aaron Fox, I wouldn’t be surprised if the team added Tyrese Maxey.
Maxey is coming off a freshman season in which he averaged 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists per game. He’s considered one of the better natural scorers in this draft and while he didn’t reflect that in a consistent or efficient way in college, there’s no question that he’ll be in play late in the lottery. If he falls outside of it, he’d be considered a huge steal.
