13. New Orleans Pelicans – Tyrese Maxey, G, Kentucky
After a somewhat disappoint restart, it’ll be interesting to see what route the New Orleans Pelicans take during the offseason. Will they make big changes? Will they bring the same exact team back? There are plenty of questions the Pelicans need to answer. One potential prospect that would make sense, no matter what route they decide to choose, for the Pelicans at No. 13 is Tyrese Maxey.
Maxey is a 6-foot-3 combo guard that had streaky tendencies during his lone season at Kentucky but has the talent to be a very good offensive player at the NBA level. During his freshman season, Maxey averaged 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists on 43 percent shooting from the field and 29 percent from 3-point range.
With the potential trades of Jrue Holiday and J.J. Redick possibly looming for the Pelicans this offseason, it would be wise for the team to add to the backcourt in the event that they come into play this offseason.
Maxey could be a bit of a project but could pay off in the long-term for New Orleans.
