The Miami Heat’s slow starts
If you’re a Miami Heat, you must be sick of the constant slow starts that the team has had to battle all series long against the Boston Celtics. Too many times in this series, you blink in the first quarter and look up at the scoreboard and the Celtics are up 8-12 points. Then, the Heat wastes the rest of the first half trying to pull even.
Even though the Heat came back to win the first two games of this series in such fashion, it’s not a trend that any team will be able to overcome over the course of a seven-game series and we saw just that in Game 3 in which the Celtics led from wire-to-wire.
If the Heat can get off to a quick start in Game 4, perhaps they could apply the pressure on Boston and dictate the way the game is played throughout. Instead of expending so much of their energy in trying to get back in games, perhaps they could use that energy to build or pat a lead. You can’t help but wonder what type of impact that could have in this series.
Having put voice to it after Game 3, it’s clearly on the minds of both the Heat players and coaches. Will they be able to adjust and fix the issue in Game 4?
