Buddy Hield, Sacramento Kings
On the surface, there’s a chance that acquiring a player like Buddy Hield could help the Philadelphia 76ers in more than one way. He could help with the ball-handling (if they want to continue with the Ben Simmons off-ball experiment) and would immediately help with the team’s lack of shooting. Hield is coming off somewhat of a “down” season for his standards but still shot 39 percent from 3-point range.
Perhaps the Sixers could swing either Tobias Harris or Al Horford to the Kings in exchange for Hield and a first-round pick (or another young player). Even though Hield is due big-money over the next few seasons, he’s still a player that’s growing into his role in the NBA and never quite fit with the Kings.
Hield is in desperate need of a new, fresh start and he could get that with the Sixers. The pressure wouldn’t be on him and he would be viewed as a third option, at best. That might exactly what Hield needs to thrive at this level.
Plus, playing off of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid would make his “open” looks that much easier. Maybe he could turn back into an exciting player under Mike D’Antoni (if he becomes the coach in Philly) too. This could end up being a match made in heaven.
