Some of the best work that Doc Rivers has done during his 20-plus coaching career has been with young teams. Could the New Orleans Pelicans emerge as an ideal landing spot for Rivers? There wouldn’t be a ton of expectation on him in New Orleans and he could recreate himself with the new face of the league in Zion Williamson.

New Orleans is one of the best coaching jobs available in the NBA and might be the best, depending on what you think of Zion. It’s certainly the most stable one when you consider expectations and pressure. The Pelicans aren’t expected to win next season or the year after that.

Any other job that Doc Rivers would take, there would almost certainly be a huge expectation placed on his job – whether that be with the Sixers, Rockets, or even had he remained with the Clippers.

If Rivers wants an opportunity to slowly rebuild his reputation as a head coach in the NBA (his legacy won’t be impacted, however), the Pelicans might be the best opportunity for him to do so. They also happen to have one of the most intriguing rosters of the open jobs.
