6. Atlanta Hawks – Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa State

With the sixth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks select Tyrese Haliburton. The Iowa State product is set up to be one of the better NBA ready prospects to emerge from this draft. Haliburton is a two-way player that would fit seamlessly next to Trae Young.

The Hawks will be one of the trendy picks in the Eastern Conference to make the playoffs next season, and Haliburton could play a big part in that. Coming off a productive sophomore season for the Cyclones, Haliburton will give young some wiggle room in his development.

Haliburton will be able to help take the defensive onus off Young and will also be able to be a playmaker that Young has not played with thus far in his career. Who knows if Haliburton can be a star in the NBA a few years down the line, but there’s no question that he’ll be able to be a productive player playing next to Young over the next few seasons.

Young and Haliburton could help create one of the Eastern Conference’s best young backcourts if he translates to the NBA as most expect him to.
