Philadelphia 76ers trade target No. 3: DeMar DeRozan
DeMar DeRozan shouldn’t be overlooked as a potential target for the Sixers. He may not be the ideal fit for the team, especially if Ben Simmons continues to show the lack of a consistent 3-point shot, but he’s the type of scorer that could take the load off of both Simmons and Embiid.
It should be noted that DeRozan is still only 31 years old and is coming off a highly underrated season with the San Antonio Spurs. DeRozan averaged 22 points, six rebounds, and six assists on a career-high 53 percent shooting from the field. He’s a great slasher, can find his spots and get to his comfortable offensive zones, and has grown leaps and bounds as a playmaker over the three seasons.
I don’t believe DeMar DeRozan would be at the top of the list for the Sixers this offseason, but if there’s anything we know about Daryl Morey is that he’s the type of executive that wants talent, fit or not fit.
After that, it’s up to the head coach to figure it out and make it all work. If Doc Rivers could figure it out, perhaps this move makes sense.
