NBA Trade Rumors: 9 teams that should be interested in Jrue Holiday
By Sean Carroll
Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets are in an interesting situation; yes, they’re one of Zach Lowe’s more likely teams to make a move, but any move would likely see them send off Caris LeVert, a guy who played great in the bubble without Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant, putting up just over 23 points per outing and 7.8 assists in 10 games.
How much better would Jrue do in that situation next to Brooklyn’s jewels of the 2019 free agency period?
In my opinion, a lot better.
While Caris showed something incredible in the bubble and the Nets have invested a lot of time into him, he had that great run without the two stars and in an abnormal situation and they lost in the first round.
It’s not shocking since his team was much worse, but Jrue is an ideal player next to two ball-dominant players in KD and Kyrie. He’s also a greater value add on the other end of the court, making an All-Defensive team twice in his career.
But does New Orleans really want Caris? Especially when they would rather distribute their shots to Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and have Lonzo Ball developing into his best self in a contract season.
A deal would have to be a bit sweeter from Brooklyn’s end, so throw in the rest of their assets in Jarrett Allen and the 19th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Doesn’t tickle my fancy.
New Orleans is probably hopeful Jaxson Hayes is their starting center of the future anyway; Allen would be redundant.
For a trade to work, the Nets would be throwing in Taurean Prince and his contract into the mix too, do they add a pick far out into the future to get that done?
Eh, gets a bit hard to talk yourself into it, may as well hold steady and wait for something better.
