Reason No. 1 to believe in the Philadelphia 76ers: Doc Rivers

For all of Doc River’s faults, he will be a great fit for this team. You can ask yourself if you’re a Sixers fan, “Do I like Doc, or am I just excited to be done with Brett Brown.” And that is very fair, but here is the case for Doc.

Nine-hundred forty-three wins, that’s not nothing, as a matter of fact, that’s 11th all-time. He’s also coached in big markets and with stars. Here is a list of top players he’s coached; Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Shaq (briefly), Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and some other high profile guys that were passed their prime like Grant Hill, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, and Stephen Jackson.

If you take Doc’s experience with winning, stars, and historic-big market teams, and you throw in his “player’s coach” label he’s had stamped on his forehead, I think you have a great fit for this young team led by their two young stars in Embiid and Simmons.
