Christmas wishlist: RJ Barrett’s ascension

Heading into the 2020–21 NBA season, the New York Knicks won’t be heading in with much expectation. Many believe that the Knicks will be one of, if not the, worst teams in the NBA this season.

While they have some really nice young pieces in place, led by RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson, this team simply isn’t in a place where it can compete on a high level with the rest of the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks are still a year or two, and a player or two, away from being a true playoff contender in the East. That’s OK, but what the Knicks need more now than ever this Christmas season is a sign that Barrett can be a fundamental building block for this franchise moving forward.
