New York Knicks trade candidate: Julius Randle

I don’t think anyone would be surprised if Julius Randle was traded before the NBA Trade Deadline. That said, you can’t argue that he hasn’t been great for the Knicks this season. In fact, I’m not sure New York would be 8-11 on the season without Randle.

Randle is the Knicks’ leading scorer, averaging 23 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists per game. Considering that he’s an expiring contract after next season, it might be wise for the Knicks to get ahead of the curve and potentially get a nice return on Randle if they don’t plan to re-sign him after next season.

It wouldn’t exactly be a “Knicks-move,” per se, but it would be a wise one nevertheless. Tom Thibodeau likely wouldn’t be a huge fan of such a trade, but if New York is serious about their current rebuild, these are the types of moves that need to be done.

I’m not sure what type of return Randle would bring, but it’s certainly something the New York Knicks should explore, at the very least.
