Even before adding James Harden last month, you could’ve made the case for the Brooklyn Nets as the favorite to come out of the East and make it to the NBA Finals. However, after acquiring Harden, I’m not sure there’s an argument that this team isn’t the favorite right now.
Despite the lack of depth on this roster, the Nets have proven that their offense is historically explosive and that their defense has been good enough for this team to be a true contender in the Eastern Conference.
Assuming that the Nets will make an addition or two at the NBA Trade Deadline or during the buyout market, Brooklyn is only going to get better this season. Kevin Durant has looked great and James Harden is proving that he can be a fit next to Kyrie Irving.
The only question about this team revolves around whether or not they’ll be able to dethrone the King out West.
Verdict: Contenders
