New York Knicks’ heroes of Game 2: Taj Gibson
The seasoned veteran Taj Gibson, who at the beginning of the season didn’t have a job, was critical in anchoring the Knicks defense. At age 36, Gibson filled in for the struggling Nerlens Noel and would even get inserted into the starting lineup to start the second half.
Known for his defense, he helped keep Trae Young from thriving in the paint as he did in the first game and contested every shot at the rim.
He would also get two wide-open passes under the basket for easy dunks that would also energize the team. He finished the game with six points on 3-4 shooting, seven rebounds, and three steals. He also had one blocked shot which was a Young floater that he was hitting on a regular thus far in this series.
To anyone who watched the game, Gibson’s contribution far exceeded the stat sheet. Kudos to Thibs for changing the starting lineup in the second half by putting in both Rose and Gibson.
