Priorities for the Boston Celtics: Figuring out what to do with Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart, and Evan Fournier
The Celtics need to figure out what they plan on doing with Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart, and Evan Fournier moving forward – these players largely represented the team’s primary supporting cast behind Tatum and Brown.
Fournier is a free agent, Walker has two years remaining on his contract (with the final year being a player option), and Smart will be an expiring contract after this upcoming season. It’ll be up to this new leadership group to figure out what to do with each of these players moving forward.
It’s already been reported that the Celtics and Kemba could work to a divorce, however, that could theoretically come about, and you’d have to imagine they will try to re-sign Fournier. Smart is where the decision truly falls. Do they want to shop Smart this offseason?
The Celtics have some big decisions to make on several fronts this offseason. It’ll be interesting to see how the next few months playout for the franchise.
