Why the Golden State Warriors would make this trade
With Randle, the Warriors immediately get younger and better offensively overall. Randle shot 41 percent from 3, which is a staple to the Warrior offense and would open the floor even more for all-star guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Green can run the floor better than Randle but they are both adept at finding the open man. He also averaged almost nine assists per game, but Randle wasn’t too far behind at six assists per game with an offensively challenged Knicks roster.
While the team’s overall defense may take a step down, Randle’s scoring and rebounding far exceeds what Green is capable of doing and would fit warriors system seamlessly. Keep in mind the Warriors have their defensive anchor with center James Wiseman whom they drafted second overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Randle struggled mightily in the playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks as the main scoring option. But as the third option behind Curry and Klay, he could very well be a dominant force. He could also be the focal point of the offense when those two are on the bench, a luxury they never had with Draymond as their third piece.
With the 19th and 21st pick in the 2021 draft, they could parlay those for another main piece or keep them to round out the roster. But a big 4 of Curry, Thompson, Randle, and Wiggins could make some noise in the Western Conference this next season.
