Tyler Herro has the chance to reinvent himself with the Miami Heat in 2021-22.
After a few months of seeing his name all over the rumor mill as it regards a potential trade, Tyler Herro will have a huge opportunity this season with the Miami Heat.
Under the assumption that the team doesn’t plan to start him before the start of the season, and there’s no indication as to why they would, Herro will have a chance to reinvent himself with the Heat.
While the numbers don’t quite back up the claim, it did feel as though Herro had somewhat of a down season last year. Especially considering the expectations that he was given before the start of the year, Herro left much to be desired when he was asked to take a bigger role with the team.

Coming off a sophomore season in which he averaged 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists on 44 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from 3-point range, the hope is that in a different role heading into 2021-22, Herro will be able to shine as he did for the team during their run to the NBA Finals a couple of seasons ago.
With the acquisition of Kyle Lowry, Herro won’t be asked to play a playmaking role for the Heat in any aspect. He’ll be able to come off the bench and focus on scoring and being the firework of energy for the team.
That’s a role that he excelled in during the team’s postseason run and one that probably fits him best at this point in his career.
But it wasn’t too long ago that it seemed like something close to a foregone conclusion that the Heat was set on trading him. I’m not sure if there was some misreporting or if something changed within the front office, but that doesn’t seem like the case anymore.
Or, at least, not at the moment.
There’s no question that Herro has emerged as one of the more polarizing players on the team. He’s loved by some and hated by others. Although, if there’s one thing that both sides can agree on, it’s that if Herro can find the right role for him he has the potential to be a very important piece for the Heat this season.
Herro has a chance to redeem himself and recreate himself this season with the Heat. Question is, will he be able to pull it off?
