Golden State Warriors reason #3: A possible Klay Thompson return

The NBA world hasn’t seen Klay Thompson since June 13, 2019, when he suffered a torn ACL in game six of the NBA finals. After rehabbing that injury, he tore his right Achilles in November of 2020, effectively losing another year of his basketball career.

However, he’s set to return in the foreseeable future, with rumors swirling around a possible Christmas game as a date to watch. We all know how dangerous the combination of Curry and Klay can be on the court, as they were the main catalyst in three championships together.

As far as how Thompson will integrate into this team – nobody really knows. If he comes back looking anywhere near prime Klay, it will be difficult to rank this team as anything other than a championship contender. With that backcourt, along with the aforementioned Poole, productive veterans in Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala, along with talented rookies in Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga, what do the Warriors not have?

They’ve even found a new defensive gear with the addition of Gary Payton II, who’s been taking after his father on the court. Even if Klay isn’t 100% at any point this season, the Golden State Warriors have enough pieces and depth to compete with anyone in this league, and they’ve done it longer than anyone.
