The Carmelo Anthony bubble will burst

Relying this much on Carmelo Anthony doesn’t seem like a safe or durable plan for the Lakers. During the first 11 games of the season, Melo has been a savior for Los Angeles. Melo is averaging 18 points and four rebounds on 50 percent from the field and 52 percent shooting from 3-point range.

As good and as talented as Melo is, I don’t think he’ll be able to average 18 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field consistently for the remainder of the season. And here’s the thing; the Lakers have needed every bit of this production to just stay afloat in the Western Conference.

The hope is that by the time the Melo bubble bursts, LeBron James will be back healthy and the team will be able to carry that load. However, there’s no guarantee that will happen or that Melo will be able to maintain this production up.

My fear is that the Melo bubble is going to burst, and likely sooner rather than later.
