Bradley Beal finally has a worthy supporting cast

For the first time since John Wall was healthy, it seems like Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards finally have a worthy supporting cast. Through the first month of the season, the Wizards are first in the Eastern Conference and are showing signs of sustainability.

Through the first 13 games, in which the Wizards are 10-3, the team has a top 5 defense and the sixth-ranked net rating in the league. At least to start the season, I’d rather a potential playoff team has a good offense than defense. Generally, it’s easier to improve on the offensive end than on the defensive one.

For the Wizards, especially with Beal on the roster, it’ll probably be more likely for the team to improve on the offensive end of the floor compared to if the team was struggling defensively. As he continues to struggle, it’s been Kyle Kuzma, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Montrezl Harrell at the forefront of Washington’s quick start to the season.

If Beal can get back on track from an efficiency standpoint, there’s still room for the team to improve. And that’s an extremely positive sign for the Wizards.
