NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, the Miami Heat would be interested in adding John Wall via buyout this season.

John Wall has yet to play in an NBA game this season and it’s not likely that he will again as a member of the Houston Rockets. It was reported earlier this year that the two sides were going to work together to find a new home for the former all-star.

Though, that has proven to be difficult because of his current contract situation. Wall has two years remaining on his contract, including this year, but a $47 million player option for next season that he’s unlikely to decline.

It’s unlikely that there’s any team that is willingly going to trade for Wall’s contract. And that’s the biggest reason why we probably won’t see Wall play again this season. Unless, of course, he’s willing to negotiate a buyout with Houston.

Though that would mean Wall giving some of his guaranteed money back, it’s probably the only way that he’ll be able to get to a new team and ultimately play this season – barring the Rockets having some sort of change of heart.

As unlikely of a scenario as that seems, if Wall would agree to a buyout, there’s at least one team that has already reported some interest in bringing him in. The Miami Heat.

According to a report from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Heat would be interested in the event that Wall would agree to a buyout. Miami needs some depth at the point guard position and assuming Wall doesn’t have any starting options out there, the Heat may be the best landing spot for Wall to attempt to rebuild his career.

For the Heat, adding a player with the talent of Wall as a potential backup point guard would be almost unfair to the rest of the Eastern Conference. Miami has been one of the most pleasantly surprising teams to start the season. Even though many expected them to improve this season, not many expected them to be this good this early.

The Heat is 10-5 on the season and just a half-game out of the top-seed, which ironically is held by the Washington Wizards.

Interestingly enough, the one real knock on the Heat this season has been their lack of depth. Imagine if this team could add Wall (via buyout) and Oladipo (injury) for their second-half run? It would be quite interesting and would all but solidify the questions surrounding this team.

As is, the Heat should be considered a dangerous team in the East. If they can somehow add a talent such as Wall at some point this season, it would make their threat that much greater. As unlikely as it seems at the moment, I don’t believe it’s something you can entirely count-out.
