NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in Ben Simmons.
The New York Knicks have been somewhat underwhelming this season, especially after all they accomplished last year, but it wouldn’t be fair to give up on this team after just the first third of the season.
At the same rate, it wouldn’t be responsible to not be concerned with how the Knicks have played as of late. Currently, the Knicks are 12-15 and are just 7-14 in their last 21 games. New York is out of the top 8 in the Eastern Conference and doesn’t have any evidence of turning their season around.
However, according to a recent report, the Knicks are open to all options in figuring out their rough patch – including possibly trading for Ben Simmons.
As the trade whispers around Simmons heat up, the Knicks have been named as a team that has expressed interest in Simmons. The big question is, however, revolves around how much interest the Knicks actually have.
Perhaps there’s really nothing to read into here with this report and maybe the Knicks were doing their due diligence here. Or perhaps this team is ready to make a big move at the NBA Trade Deadline.
There’s no question that the Knicks should, theoretically, be interested in Simmons. He’s 25 years old and has all-NBA talent. He desperately needs a change of scenery and what place would be better than the big stage and bright lights of New York?
If New York’s interest is genuine and high, it ultimately will come down to the Sixers’ asking price. And it’s a hefty one.
For the most part, the Knicks have been underwhelming this season and maybe Simmons is the player that the front office is willing to make a move for. If he is, this could prove to be an interesting deadline season to follow as it pertains to the Knicks and Simmons.
