NBA Rumors: Kyrie Irving is set to rejoin the Brooklyn Nets.

Despite the fact that Kyrie Irving has not yet played a game for the Brooklyn Nets this season, I believe that the overwhelming opinion was that we were going to see him suit up for the team, one way or another, before the end of the 2021-22 NBA campaign.

And that’s exactly where the narrative is heading towards after a recent report suggests that Kyrie and the Nets have agreed on a resolution that would make way for him to be a part-time player for the remainder of the season.

Kyrie is still not eligible to play in home games this season, due to his unvaccinated status and New York law, but he is eligible to play in road games. And, it appears, that’s exactly how the Nets will use him for the remainder of the season.

The Nets have been relatively successful without time is the season. Even though they’re not the overwhelming contender that many thought they would be, with Kyrie, they are still first in the Eastern Conference with a 21-8 record.

After a slow start to the season, James Harden has really come on and taken this team to be next level. Kevin Durant is playing at an observed MVP level and has to be one of the favorites to win the award at this point of the season.

So no, the Nets haven’t been that overwhelming contender that they were thought to be heading into the season, but they are still the best team in the East and that’s without Kyrie in the lineup so far this season.

While the return, albeit on a part-time basis, of Kyrie doesn’t exactly put his entire narrative to bed, it does give this team an immediate boost that they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. Despite his semi-return, there are still some big questions about Kyrie heading into the thick of the season.

Is the team anymore or less likely to trade him? Does this mean he will sign a long-term extension with the team after the season? What does this mean for the playoffs? Is he any closer to perhaps getting the vaccine, thus opening the door for him to be a full-time player?
